Meet Our Attorneys

Cam has served as Scott County Attorney since August 2022. Prior to that, Cam served as an Assistant Scott County Attorney since 2007. Cam graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2006 and Transylvania University in 2003. Cam grew up in Scott County and graduated from Scott County High School. Cam is married to his wife, Serena, who works as a school social worker. Cam and Serena have two daughters, Anne and Caroline.

Kelli is a 2011 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law. Before attending law school, she worked as a Victims’ Advocate at the Fayette Commonwealth’s Attorney and The Children’s Advocacy Centre of the Bluegrass. After law school she worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Medicaid Fraud Division of the Office of the Kentucky Attorney General. Kelli has been with our office since 2013. Her primary responsibilities include prosecuting traffic, misdemeanor, and juvenile public offenses.

Ben has been an Assistant Scott County Attorney since 2017. His primary practice areas include: criminal prosecution, family court, and disability proceedings. Prior to joining the County Attorney's Office, Ben was a prosecutor at the Fayette Commonwealth Attorney's Office, and spent several years practicing civil and adminstrative law at law firms in Lexington, KY. Ben graduated from Georgetown College in 2004, and obtained his law degree from Regent University in 2009.

Ashley Morgan Johnson grew up in Georgetown, Kentucky and is a graduate of Scott County High School. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Kentucky, Master’s in Public Administration from Morehead State University, and law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law. Ashley worked as a staff attorney for Judge Thomas Clark in Fayette Circuit Court upon graduating law school. Before joining the staff on August 1, 2022, Ashley worked as an Assistant Fayette County Attorney from 2015-2021 and Assistant Jessamine County Attorney from 2021-2022. In addition to the practice of law, Ashley has also served as a part-time instructor at Eastern Kentucky University within the department of Homeland Security.

Clay McKnight served as the Scott County Attorney from 1978 – 2006. Since his retirement as County Attorney in 2006, Clay has worked in the office as an Assistant Scott County Attorney.

Sonja W. Brent is a lifelong resident of Georgetown, Kentucky. Sonja began working for the County Attorney’s Office in 2004 as a caseworker for the Division of Child Support and currently serves as a Receptionist/Administrative Assistant.

Kimberly Whitlock Noel has worked for the Scott County Attorney’s Office since 2001 and serves as a Trial Assistant in the office. Kim was born and raised in Georgetown, Kentucky. Kim has an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Sullivan University.

Kayla has worked in the Scott County Attorney’s Office since 2020. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Morehead State University.

Vinny has been an Assistant Scott County Attorney since January 2024. Vinny received his bachelor’s degree from Centre College in Economics and Finance in 2016 and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2019. Prior to joining our office, Vinny practiced Criminal Law for several years with the Department of Public Advocacy and in private practice. His primary responsibilities include prosecuting dependency, neglect, and abuse cases, along with handling all matters involving child support.

Sonja W. Brent is a lifelong resident of Georgetown, Kentucky. Sonja began working for the County Attorney’s Office in 2004 as a caseworker for the Division of Child Support and currently serves as a Receptionist/Administrative Assistant.

Julie has been with the Scott County Attorney’s Office since 2017. She is originally from Northeastern Ohio and moved to Kentucky in 2015. Julie has worked as a legal secretary/paralegal for over 20 years for various legal firms in Ohio, the Cayman Islands and Florida.

Diane Gibson has served as the Supervisor of the Scott County Child Support Office since 2018. Diane began her career as in child support in Scott County in 2001 before moving to the state level in Frankfort in 2009. While at the state level Diane was part of a team that collected millions of dollars in back child support, winning the Commissioner’s Award in 2017. In 2018, Diane returned to the Scott County Attorney’s Office.

Stacey Kessler has been with the Scott County Attorney’s Child Support Office since 2021 as an Administrative Assistant. Stacey has over 15 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant/Office Manager and previously worked as the Assistant Business Office Manager for Signature Healthcare in Lexington, KY.

Amber McCullough has worked for the Scott County Child Support Office since February 2020. Prior to that, Amber worked as a Family Support Specialist for the Department of Community Based Services in Fayette County. Amber is efficient, organized, hardworking, and shows attention to detail.

Allison DeMarcus began working for the Scott County Child Support Office in April 2023. Kathy previously worked for 20 years as a Victim Advocate in the Fayette Commonwealth Attorney’s Office assisting victims of felony crimes. Erica Hayden joined our Child Support team in August 2023. A native of Lexington, Erica has prior experience working with families establishing services with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services in Fayette County. Erica has a strong commitment to serving families in the community and currently serves on the Fayette County Foster Care Review Board.

Crystal Knox has been with the Scott County Attorney’s Office since 2019 as a Child Support Caseworker. Prior to working in the Scott County Attorney’s Office, Crystal worked as a Child Support Caseworker in the Green County and Taylor County child support offices. In addition to having over twelve years of experience in child support, Crystal has almost ten years of experience working as Paralegal’s Assistant and Legal Assistant in the private sector.

Lisa Zecher began working for the Scott County Child Support Office in May 2023. Previously, Lisa worked as a Caseworker in the Campbell County Child Support Office and as an Enforcement Investigator for the Butler County Child Support Office in Hamilton, Ohio.
